How to play Stonk Rider
The basic stonk rider skill is simple: keep enough speed to clear the chart, then control the bike angle before the next landing.
Start with slope reading
Look ahead on the chart line. A steep rise usually needs speed, a drop usually needs restraint, and choppy movement rewards patience. The best players react before the wheel reaches the obstacle.
Use throttle carefully
Holding acceleration everywhere is tempting, but it can ruin landings. Stonk Rider works best when the player pulses speed before ramps, eases off during flight, and uses braking only when a descent gets too sharp.
Land cleanly
Clean landings matter more than huge jumps. Match the bike angle to the chart slope, keep the rider balanced, and let the suspension settle before pushing hard into the next climb.
Stonk Rider controls
The control bar remains visible during a desktop run. Use W, the up arrow, or the space bar to ride and press the nose downward while airborne. Use S or the down arrow to brake. The A and D keys provide expert lean control, J adds a spring action, and R resets the attempt. Touch devices display equivalent on-screen controls.
Do not hold every key continuously. Stonk Rider is built around measured inputs. A short press before a climb can preserve momentum without launching the bike too far. A brief rotation in the air can align both wheels with the next slope. Release the key once the correction is complete so the motorcycle does not continue rotating past the desired angle.
Prepare before starting
Choose a supported track
Type a company name or symbol into the homepage search field and choose one of the returned suggestions. This ensures the symbol has a valid identity from the market search provider. The detail page then requests historical prices. If there are not enough points, the game will ask you to choose another track instead of inventing data.
Read the preview statistics
Check the period, volatility, maximum slope, and number of points. High volatility suggests rapid elevation changes. A large maximum slope warns of a particularly sharp section. The chart preview also shows where long climbs, deep valleys, and sudden reversals occur. Memorize one or two major landmarks rather than trying to remember the entire route.
Set one goal
For a first attempt, choose completion rather than speed. On later runs, focus on coins, flips, score, or a cleaner time. A single goal makes the result easier to interpret and prevents risky inputs from competing with each other.
A step-by-step first run
- Accelerate smoothly from the start. Build enough speed for the first change in elevation without immediately using maximum input.
- Watch ahead of the front wheel. Your control decision should respond to the next slope, not the section already beneath the bike.
- Ease off near a crest. Carrying full acceleration over a sharp peak can create unnecessary airtime.
- Rotate early while airborne. Match the line of both wheels to the expected landing surface, then release rotation.
- Stabilize after contact. Let the bike settle before accelerating hard into another obstacle.
- Use the minimap. It shows progress and warns when a major rise, decline, or finish is approaching.
How to handle common terrain
Long climbs
Enter a long climb with momentum. If you wait until the slope becomes steep, acceleration may not recover enough speed. Keep the bike close to the line and avoid unnecessary wheelies, because lifting the front wheel can reduce stability before the next change in angle.
Sharp peaks
A peak combines an uphill approach with a downhill landing. Reduce input near the top and begin aligning for the descent before the bike leaves the surface. The goal is not maximum height. It is to place both wheels on the falling line with enough room to absorb the landing.
Deep valleys
Valleys can provide useful speed, but the transition at the bottom may rotate or compress the bike. Avoid fighting every downward movement. Let gravity build momentum, then prepare for the climb out. Braking too much in the valley often creates a stall on the following rise.
Choppy sideways sections
Small repeated changes punish overcorrection. Use lighter inputs and keep the motorcycle relatively level. Trying to match every tiny angle can create more instability than the terrain itself. Treat these sections as a chance to reset your posture for the next major feature.
Coins, flips, and scoring
Coins appear near selected parts of the route and reward positioning. A coin is not worth collecting if the approach guarantees a crash, especially during a completion-focused run. Learn a safe line first, then adjust speed or jump height on later attempts to reach optional rewards.
Flips require deliberate rotation and a controlled landing. Begin with enough airtime, complete the rotation early, and stop the input before contact. Partial flips are especially dangerous because they leave the wheels far from the slope angle. Score combines progress and game actions, but finishing a run consistently is the foundation for stronger totals.
Why crashes happen
Too much speed
High speed shortens reaction time and increases jump distance. If you repeatedly overshoot a landing, release acceleration earlier instead of trying to correct the entire error in the air.
Rotation held too long
Long key presses can turn a small alignment adjustment into a full rotation. Tap, observe, and release. The correct input depends on current angular speed, not only on where the bike points at one instant.
Looking at the motorcycle instead of the route
The rider is visually important, but staring at it leaves no time to prepare. Shift attention between the bike and the terrain ahead. The minimap provides broader context while the main view supplies precise landing information.
How to improve efficiently
Use the reset button for deliberate practice. Repeat the same difficult section and change only one variable: approach speed, release timing, or rotation duration. When a cleaner attempt works, preserve that habit through the earlier part of the course. Comments on a track can also record a useful line for future riders or explain where a daily challenge becomes difficult.
After a crash, read the run summary rather than immediately dismissing it. Progress, coins, flips, and score help identify whether the attempt improved. A higher virtual return can simply reflect reaching a different historical point, so use gameplay statistics and the visible crash location when judging control.

Should I accelerate all the time?
No. Build speed where the route is predictable and release before difficult crests or landings.
Is braking required?
Braking is useful on severe descents and before overshoots, but excessive braking can remove the momentum needed for the next climb.
